On 11 March 2020, the government announced a new £1bn Non-ACM Cladding Remediation Fund for the remediation of unsafe non-ACM cladding on residential buildings. The fund applies to buildings in both the private and social sectors that are at least 18m in height.
The aim of the fund is to ensure that:
The fund is designed to address some of the financial blockers to remediation being carried out quickly.
The fund will be open to building owners or other responsible entities in both the social and private housing sectors. It will fund additional cladding remediation activity that is required beyond the work already being undertaken by responsible building owners and developers.
Before applying for the fund, the expectation is that building owners will have already explored every opportunity to fund remediation from sources outside private residential leaseholders and government funding.
To access funding, the department will expect that construction work can commence on site before 31 March 2021.
More detailed guidance about the fund and eligibility requirements can be found in the Prospectus.
