FELLOW (FIRPM)

Fellow (FIRPM) status is discretionary, awarded by the IRPM Board of Directors to Members with ten or more years' current, relevant experience in residential property management and who can specifically demonstrate -

  • that they have made a significant contribution to the development of the sector over and above that made to their own business or employer.

Potential candidates will be required to complete a Fellows application form and identify this significant contribution. Applicants may be invited to attend an interview to determine their standing in this regard.

The Directors do not wish to be prescriptive about how Members demonstrate their eligibility for upgrade to Fellow. You may, however, find the following examples helpful in assessing your eligibility to meet the criteria:

  • where in the opinion of the Directors, the member has made a significant contribution to the work of the IRPM or another relevant organisation. A number of our Fellows have served as Directors of the IRPM and/or Council Members of ARMA or PMAS.
  • in recognition of a significant contribution to residential property management within another relevant organisation. We have Fellows who have made a major contribution towards the standing of residential property management within the RICS and within the National Housing Federation.
  • upon production of written work or research on a subject relevant to residential property management (or any aspect thereof) of not less than 2500 words which has either been published, or is of such quality in the opinion of the Directors it would benefit the IRPM membership by its circulation or publication. There is a lack of balanced, well researched academic literature based upon residential property management. The IRPM is keen to support any Members undertaking such work and will consider awarding a Fellowship as a result of such articles being researched, authored and published.

The Board of Directors may also consider offering Fellowship to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the residential property management sector and whose membership will enhance the standing of the Institute.

Application form for upgrade to Fellow available here.

Use of post nominal letters (AIRPM, MIRPM, FIRPM) is only eligible to current full subscribers of the Institute of Residential Property Management.

Direct Entry to Member (MIRPM) level

This option may be offered to:

  • Members of those alternative professional bodies listed under Associate and Member levels above, who have or are gaining, relevant supervised experience in residential property management

    or
  • Affiliates who have obtained appropriate Graduate or Postgraduate qualifications and who have or are gaining, relevant supervised experience in residential property management

    or
  • Professionals within the residential property management sector who can demonstrate significant relevant (10 years plus) experience but who do not meet the above mentioned qualifications or professional membership criteria

Applications will be considered on merit by the IRPM Directors. Examples of qualifications considered appropriate include degrees and diplomas recognised as fully cognate by other Institutions such as RICS or CIH.

How Direct Entry works:

Membership will be offered at Affiliate level.

Those with suitable academic or professional qualifications and with (or gaining) relevant experience will be able to register to sit the Member exam at the next available opportunity without first having taken the Foundation and Associate exams.

If successful in the Member Exam the candidate will be offered membership at Member (MIRPM) level upon satisfactorily demonstrating that they 'meet the 10 years plus' experience' requirements.

Only one direct sitting of the Member exam is allowed.

All unsuccessful candidates will remain in membership at Affiliate level and will need to successfully complete the Foundation and Associate exams to progress along the normal membership route.
